Every time I go into my craft room with the intention of tidying up, somehow I always end up making an even bigger mess! Blame all the scraps lying around - I touch them and instead of throwing them out I start thinking: hmm, what can I do with these? This was exactly the case with these wooden shapes that come with stretched canvases to tighten them (I never knew what they were used for until I looked it up!) Anyway, when I put them together, they resembled little houses, so that's what I made out of them. I stuck the shapes together and decorated them with the altered scrapbooking papers I'd made earlier. Here's the proceedings shown in my desk shot, taken earlier this week:
I used my gelli prints for another random (unplanned) project and covered these cylindrical containers. They're great for storing my foil and tissue paper tubes.
Next, I used bits and pieces of leftover scraps from other projects to produce yet another grid. Yes, I'm definitely addicted to grids!
So there you have it, my random scrap projects. I'm getting very excited about the 600th WOYWW two weeks from now and our Zoom Crop the following Saturday. Find out more on Julia's post here. If you're vain like me (and who isn't?), here's a little trick to make yourself look good on camera, even first thing in the morning without makeup. It smoothes your complexion and even whitens your teeth! Go into settings, then click on Video and tick 'Touch up my appearance'. You can adjust how much enhancement you need - I used maximum LOL! I wish I could do this in real life - takes a decade off you at least! This works on the PC desktop - not sure about mobile apps.
I tried to get Oreo in the picture as well but he wasn't very co-operative and wouldn't look in the camera, so he just comes up as a black blob. He got a bit annoyed because I was trying to get him to do something against his will. He's sulking now somewhere after letting me know in no uncertain terms that he wasn't happy - he even bit me! Not seriously, just to put me in my place. You can't just boss a cat around, right? I hope he will willingly make an appearance during the crop and it would be great to see all the other WOYWW pets too!
Thanks for visiting today - I'll be doing my rounds later - hope to see you all soon! xx
So lovely to see you this week...I hope to join in too but may need to practice first as I'm very new to zoom. I really love all you've been creating this week.

Oh wow what a great idea. will it add more hair and make me look thinner too! Don't think this computer can cope with zoom but my phone can! Daughter and granddaughter give themselves a castle background and change into fairy princesses! love love love your paper stuff. I don't know why, but I must make those little tag hearts. Have a great week! Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #12 (stay safe)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip - wish I had known this earlier when I was zooming on SW. Not that I am slim or slimming. I just stay as I am.
ReplyDeleteI love all your Gellli makes. The houses are fabulous as is the grid canvas but I really do like the pots - the prints you used on them are beautiful.
Looking forward to seeing you on Zoo soon.
Hugs, Neet (off for a blood test - ugh) 10 xx
ps the arch is my favourite too - and my next fave is the Mexican one next to it with the windows that open and close.
Your artwork is lovely - so many lovely colour combos. Thanks for the tips on tweaking our photo image - I will have to see what I can do - its certainly needed in my case - lol!! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteThat’s a great tip about the Zoom, we won’t recognise each other because we’ll be so glamorous, lol!! Those little houses are absolutely gorgeous, what fun to recycle something so beautifully from what would have been thrown away!

I'm please that I'm not the only one that goes to the desk with the intention of tidying up and getting rid of stuff an end up thinking I can't do that it's got to have a use and I come away with the desk worse than when I started. Loving your little houses and the gelli prints too. Sending woyww hugs, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteI love all your random projects, Zsuzsa! Briliant. So funny about the self-glamourising for Zoom. Since I lost all that weight my face has got really saggy and old looking and my neck is quite horrible... It would be nice to have a virtual face lift but I think I'll be honest and go as-is!! Typical cat, Oreo not posing for the camera. We have a saying in our household - "not her idea" - they rarely do what you want but are happy to do the same thing five minutes later if it is their idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting. I may have finished tiny carpet #6 but I still have to fill in the background with quite a bit of black cross stitch, and also make up the needle book so there's still quite a bit to do. I'm glad you enjoyed reading a bit of our kitty history. I haven't got very many photos of the older ones because I only got my first digital camera in 2003 (for my 50th birthday) and I was never any great shakes at photography before that. I've got some nice ones that I need to scan. I haven't covered the really early ones when I was growing up, and Sophie, my first one after I left home - somewhere I've got photos of her kittens but goodness knows where! I got her in 1979. Then there are my hubby's 2 kitties that he had when we were first married - when we got Purdey we had 4 for a while!
I'll try and get Ruby involved with the Zoom session but no guarantees... Lily isn't very interested in me and only uses me as a warming platform. She loves my hubby. You are right - cats are full of love - have you come across 1Bike1World on YouTube - a Scottish welder cycling the world with his rescue cat Nala? My hubby gave me the book recently. Nala absolutely adores him!
So funny about your hubby not noticing things either. Fortunately mine doesn't interfere with what I spend money on (and vice versa) although I tease him a lot about the sort of things he buys - toy boats and stuff like that ("it's not a toy, it's a model" lol lol) - but then men never grow up do they!!
Happy WOYWW,

Zsuszsa, leave it to YOU to find yet ANOTHER great project with those little wooden pieces!! Cute, cute little houses! Like you, I didn't know what they were for, so I have a box dedicated to all those little guys in hopes that I would come up with a project to use them for! LOLOL Hello, my name is Felicia and I am a hoarder! LOLOL Hey, you never know right?????? LOLOL Love your cylinders and the grids!! You have got them down to a science ! I love them and I MUST TRY to do one! I love the idea and they are so colorful and look fun!! I LOVE, LOVED seeing your beautiful face today!! I don't care what you say, touch up or no, I think you are a peach!!! And Mr. Oreo needs to get with the program! LOL I would need to do some SERIOUS touch ups with that program! LOL I have never taken a good photo, save my high school senior picture - and that's only because I wasn't smiling! LOL Not sure that I will be able to attend the whole shabang, but we will see! Have an AWESOME day and week my friend! Blessings to you! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love all your artwork on display this week and am so looking forward to the zoom session. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless. Caro xxx (#13)
ReplyDeleteI should let you loose in here you'd have a field day with all the scraps and "that'll come in useful" stuff that fills the place! Thanks for the visit, and the comment. Looking forward to the zoom crop, I must get the app downloaded. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa, I laughed at your comment about going to tidy up and making a bigger mess. I often getting distracted into crafting, happens to me quite regularly. Or I start off doing one thing, need to find something and then end up on some completely different project! Great Zoom tips. I'll hopefully be joining in the crop - unless lockdown is lifted and I will be visiting my daughter(s). I love the little houses, very cute. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #22
ReplyDeleteYou are just like me, I say yes time to tidy and them make more cards lol great pictures of you
ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe, Lilian B # 15
Those little cylinders and grids are fabulous, Zsuzsa! I did not knew anything about this "Touch my appearance" function on Zoom ;-)
ReplyDeleteI just love the gelli prints on those two pots, I really must get out my plate and try again!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Chrissie #6
What fabulous makings out of those scraps Zsuzsa. I will have to try your tip regarding Zoom. Meow to Oreo. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2
ReplyDeleteAs ever, I totally adore your projects, and love the grid concept. If I could get Zoom to knock say 20 years off my image that would do me. It's actually my birthday today so I am feeling it a bit, :D
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW a little late!
Mary Anne (3)
Well, you're just brilliant, Zsuzsa - it would never have occurred to me to use those wooden stretcher bits to build houses. You're a carpenter extraordinaire.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm all over grids as well - just can't beat them for making happy eyes, can you?!
Happy week, my friend...here's some virtual hugs from western Canada.
Cats don’t like to be made to do something do they :). Great job with those tiny houses, I never know what to do with those bits of wood. Angela #33
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant tip! a will be checking that out for certain and sure, thank you! Love love the little houses. More useful tubs too, beautiful paper again Zsuzsa, so lovely that you’re using it on something you can keep and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your face and all your lovely art. Those containers are just stunning. I am holding out for holidays - 3 more weeks of crazy busy at work and then it's play time.
ReplyDeletePoor Oreo! Cats definitely don't like being told what to do. I'm hoping Mittsy and Inky will be somewhat co-operative on Zoom day! Maybe they can meet Oreo! I LOVE your houses, so cool!!!! Sorry I'm so late! My computer was acting up, today she seems to be OK. Stay Safe, Lindart #29
ReplyDeleteLoving your grids!
ReplyDeleteAlso how you have been making the most of random items!
Sorry I am late again...
Happy WOYWW!
