We're well within reach of #600 of WOYWW! Can you believe that Julia's crafty blog hop has been running for almost 600 weeks?! That's 11.5 years in old money. This must be some kind of record, for sure! Here's this week's obligatory desk shot from me.
I was in the process of working on this journal spread. I actually contemplated leaving it as just a background - there's no law that says you have to complete each and every page, but I still went ahead and added a few more bits and bobs, incorporating some of my gelli prints, washi tapes and other elements. While I don't love the entire spread as a whole, there are some areas I quite like, so I took some close-ups of those as well.
Apart from this spread, I played a bit more with alcohol inks and stencils I stuck one of my gelli prints on a little container that I had saved from the recycling box:
I just want to show you one more thing: we had a canvas print delivered yesterday to go above the fireplace. We'd been looking for years for something suitable - the right size, the right image - you wouldn't believe how difficult it was to find something that all of us could live with. (My own art is relegated to my own areas LOL!) I wanted something abstract, while my husband insisted on a "real" thing that we have a connection to. In the end we settled on this scene in Utah - my hub's been there and stood next to that rock. It adds a bit of colour to our otherwise neutral interior and who doesn't like sunsets? Yeah, I can live with it. Oreo just casually walked into the shot while I was taking the photo this morning. Perfect timing!
What have you been up to this week? Let us know and link up with
WOYWW!
What a gorgeous fireplace you have - is that a wood burner? I am lucky in that I get to choose whatever we have on the walls and to be honest what we do have does not reflect me in any way. Chas leaves me to do the decor in this house but I do ask if he approves before purchase.
ReplyDeleteLovely pages in your journal and the upgraded box is lovely too. I do enjoy your art and these gelli pages are always so good.
Take care, Hugs, Neet 5 xx
That’s a great photo of Utah and it looks great above the fireplace! It’s funny isn’t it because I could live with your grid artwork on my walls, no problem!! Love the pages that you’ve done, thanks for the close ups of the details, it’s interesting to see.

Hi Zsuzsa, Love the picture, I could live with that too. Gorgeous fireplace! Loving the journal pages, you could scan those and print out your own paper from the parts you like. Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #6 X
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I LOVE the entire spread as a whole and would have that on the wall if I could! It's beautiful and ethereal and everything I love wrapped up in one piece of art. The landscape is breathtaking isn't it and looks great above your beautiful fireplace. I get to choose all the pictures on the walls here - if I asked my husband to describe any aspect of our home such as carpet colour or picture he would be completely unable to!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week,
Diana xx #22
Now you've made me smile Lol! I have loads of half finished journal pages! I try to get started in them and then get distracted with something else though in theory I should have a bit more crafting time as the challenge blog that I was making samples for has closed so we'll see though to make up for it I've joined the Creative Craft Academy so I'm probably kidding myself. I wanted to get back to some 3D stuff and thought this might get me in the mood. That looks like a lovely room and the new pic, looks perfect there. Take care and have a lovely creative week, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteI Love that Oreo walked in and posed. Your painting is beautiful and looks as if it was painted for that exact place. It’s hard when you are unhappy with a page, I sometimes try and “fix” it, but it doesn’t always work. I have to bin stuff I really don’t like. Happy WOYWW Angela #29
ReplyDeletelovely to find just the right art work for just he right space! Love so much happening on your desk.

your journals are fantastic, i love to see the close ups too. Shame on them for not wanting your own work on the wall - but the piece you eventually found looks great! Helen #4
ReplyDeleteI could fit my living room in your fireplace...well, almost! Your journals are fantasic and your crafty space looks very inviting! Have a happy week, Happy WOYWW

You journal spread is awesome and there's no wrong in leaving it just as it is, i'm a terrible tinkerer.. I just can't stop messing with some things. I'm so happy you showed us some close ups that's one thing online takes away from us we just can't pick things up and peep in closer. The gelli prints looks fab on the box, resembles ceramic so fab.
ReplyDeleteNice choice of print above the fireplace, my Hubby leaves home decor things up to me & i'm extremely grateful as he's colour blind hee hee!!
Happy WoywW Hugs Tracey xx
Well, as usual you have wowed me with your creations, Zsuzsa - and your absolutely gorgeous fireplace too. I approve of the picture but would have been even more delighted if your family had actually wanted one of your original pieces! It's a bit galling sometimes to be so under-appreciated by one's nearest and dearest, isn't it. I am like Neet and Diana in that I have the most say in the interior decor of the house and most of the pictures (at least in the common parts of the house) reflect my choice, although we do have a few of my hubby's watercolours up. He has 2 rooms and they are full of his taste, some of which I like!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your awesome comment - well done ploughing through my whole post and commenting on everything!! You are very observant - yes, it is a not-so-tiny carpet under the flowers. I made that table runner many years ago from a book of oriental rug designs. The fabric is red so the embroidery doesn't cover the whole thing, and it's not as fine (18 count as far as I remember, as opposed to the current 22).
I'm so glad you enjoyed reading about Beatrice the Computer Queen! She was truly brilliant and was doing file sharing before I learnt how to do it! She was such a little character and joined to my hubby at the heart - you may have seen some pictures of the two of them together - almost embarrassing in their closeness lol! I used to have to peel her off him to get close to him! Lily and Ruby have definitely filled the cat-shaped holes vacated by Beatrice and Phoebe - you are right there. Funny how kitties completely dominate your life, isn't it... (Loved seeing Oreo in pride of place before the fire, by the way.)
I hope you are managing with your eyesight in the absence of a recent test. I see you've got a couple of pairs of glasses on your desk. You're right about opticians getting about as close as possible. Dad was an ophthalmic surgeon and we always said he rubbed noses with his patients, and all the time he was working, he hardly ever caught a cold, despite so many of his patients being children! When he retired and they moved to another part of the country, he got colds all the time because he had no immunity to the local bugs.
I'm really glad you want to be included in the giveaway. I just hope I can get it finished in time for the 600th celebrations! It will be great fun to meet you on Zoom. My hubby gave me a Zoom lesson this p.m. and I'm going to try it out tomorrow for our Arts Society lecture.
Thank you for your kind words about my brother-in-law. I'm really going to miss him - he was a special person. He was only 76, 5 years older than my hubby. We never thought he'd make old bones but it was still a shock.
Happy WOYWW and a cuddle for Oreo,
Shoshi x #23
What a gorgeous piece over the fireplace Zsuzsa. No wonder Oreo likes looking at it lol. Love the artwork. The gel print on that pot is amazing. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1
ReplyDeleteHI Zsuzsa, sorry for the late visit, Wed went awry again! omg I LOVE that little container you made over, it looks really fabulous. Do you ever scan your own work to print off and use for collage, the colours and textures you create are wonderful. Love how Oreo looks like he thinks you're taking a picture of only him! Have a lovely week. Annie C
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa, This journal page with butterfly and dragonflies is gorgeous! Do those numbers 802 and 803 mean something special to you? I like the piece over the fireplace too!
ReplyDeleteNo, they're totally random, Chani! They're raffle tickets - just happened to be lying on my desk. Sometimes I look for something specific, but I was too lazy this time LOL!
DeleteWow, you've been wildly busy in the studio, Zsuzsa - love those pages, and your desk is always so fascinating! And your gelli-printed container looks amazing. I love it how things can ALWAYS be improved with a gel print. I so get what you mean about finding artwork that can be appreciated by the whole family in common areas; even with two people in our now-small household, it's a challenge. ;-)
ReplyDeleteOreo is very photogenic. Oh wow I love the spread, the alcohol ink ones are stuuunnning. The container looks super expensive now .
ReplyDeleteStay safe

I love your fireplace and the painting of Utah - we went there as a family when I was a teenager and loved the dramatic landscape. Your spread is lovely, as is the rest of the work on display. Happy Belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#14)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see you posting every week and in creative flow. Gorgeous close-ups. I love how those gold touches add a special glow ♥
ReplyDeleteLove the art journal - it's not something I ever got into although I did try it once. I need a much more structured play session/end goal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, and sorry for the late visit!
Howdy,
ReplyDeleteLove your desk and AJ spread!
I did not play WOYWW this week - but I still am visiting desks to get inspiration!
Peace,
