I'm still on a creative high following all the inspiration in previous weeks. I literally can't stop creating! So, I'd better get down to business and show you my desk for WOYWW and all the makes that poured out of me in the past week. Starting with my desk, I'm still hooked on gelli printing with alcohol inks, inspired by Birgit Koopsen. This time, I used my 6X6" gelli plate with a new stencil I picked up on Amazon that was a perfect fit.
Here are my prints, pulled with copper and gold acrylics, which gives them a lovely shimmer. The second photo is a simple mop-up of my stencil on deli paper and the third was an experiment on Yupo, but not a gelli print.
I also developed a crush on washi tapes so I had to get some new ones to add to my collection and also acquired this drawer unit to store them (I think I saw it on Sarah's blog first and have been coveting one ever since!):
On top of this unit, there's a new grid project on the left and I made another two after that! This is such a fun way of creating, I have to keep making them! It was originally inspired by Laly Mille, but I think I managed to put my own stamp on it. Here are the three squares I created - they're all on my gelli print clean-up-sheets just on ordinary printer paper, which I then attached to some cardstock:
And if that's not enough, I've also made a journal page - or rather finished one that I had started some time ago. My alcohol prints came in handy! (That's a picture of Catherine of Aragon as a child, by the way)
Cat news: I had to break up a confrontation between Oreo and the neighbour's black cat who invaded his patch. They were staring at each other making that stupid noise they do just before a showdown. I stood right next to Oreo and negotiated with the invader, who reluctantly and veeeryyy slowly moved away, admitting defeat. I hope he won't be back for a good while - or perhaps ever if he was sufficiently traumatised by the experience. I locked Oreo in the house for a couple of hours just to be safe before letting him out again. There hasn't been any problems since, but I'm on the look-out! Nobody messes with Oreo - he's under my protection! I hope the message got through! He posed for a portrait for me this morning:
That's it for today! Thanks for your visit. I look forward to visiting as many desks as I can today and during the course of the week. Happy #596!
How lovely your grid projects are - and those gelli prints. Just yummy. The journal page is also pretty. Well done you for defending Oreo! He looks up at you with real love, I think, you can just see it on his face.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

I think he just wanted to be fed LOL!
DeleteThe grid artworks are absolutely glorious, I can’t decide which one is my favourite, maybe the first one, the patterns, colours and words are all perfect. Love the stencil mop ups too!!

Obviously the pose was to say "thank you" for being his protector. I had to smile at the thoughts of you two standing there together facing off the neighbourhood cat. Just told Chas and he laughed and said it "hit the spot" making him laugh too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I love your grid projects, especially the turquoise one. I can see how you have become addicted to them. They would make lovely gifts mounted.
Your journal pages are fabulous! I love the left hand side especially, with the arched window and the colour behind it, and What a beautiful picture of Catherine. You do the most wonderful journal pages.
Last but by no means least your prints are fabulous. I can imagine the shine/sheen on the with the metallic inks. The close ups you show us are beautiful - you did well to find that stencil, it really does work well with these prints.
Stay safe and well - Hugs, Neet 5 xx
Hi Zsuzsa, yes they do have a distinct sort of growl/yowl they use to tell another cat to back off, don't they? Love the grids, they came out looking fab. All the prints are stunning, and the journal pages even more so, love your creativity. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Zsuzsa, YOU ARE ON A ROLL!!! I LOVE when I get in that creative groove and can't stop! But I'm thankful too because all that comes out of that makes me feel better when I'm in a slump! I am in LOVE with your pulls with the copper and gold acrylic! They rock!!!!! And as far as you Laly Mille inspired art....you may have started there, but YOU HAVE put your own spin on things! I think that's what it's all about. Be inspired but then go that one step further and put a big glop of YOU all over it!!!! Your style continues to be one of my fave and I confess, was what drew me to a lot of mixed media style all those years ago!! On the Oreo front.....you GO Oreo, show em whose boss!!! It's always scary when they get that growl to watch them kind of sit up on their haunches and hold their arms out hesitating until they pounce and then do the dive and roll!! I know it's nature and someone eventually gives in, BUT it's still scary, especially when it's your baby!!! But, sounds like good old Oreo has some back up....get it girl! LOL Sure wish I could be there to get in on that crafty whirlwind! Blessing my friend!!
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa, Loving your Gelli prints. I tried to see the washi tape close up. Are you making your own on the Gel plate or buying them. They are great fun to make. I am going to have to try that grid ideas it's brilliant just got to get the baby journals finished then I can get back to some messy crafting! Darling Oreo, that's cats for you. Stay safe and have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x18x
ReplyDeleteI do hope your neighbour's cat has got the message Zsuzsa. Glad I was able to help you with washi tape storage. Mine will shortly be overflowing as I couldn't resist a Christmas bargain set from Hochanda recently. 60 rollls for just under £10. I may have to get another set of drawers to sit on top of the first lol. Love all the art work again this week! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1
ReplyDeleteHere's to cat protection...and I LOVE your Original and Streams of Light pieces. They are outstanding. Your colour combinations always pull me right in!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use up your gelli plate mop up pieces of art. I’m off to use that idea right away.... Take care with love and hugs Sue #26. xx
ReplyDeletewow, you were on a roll last week! what gorgeous results too. I have never used my gelli plate ...... shame this latest lockdown will see me still working hard with not much free time! hope Oreo keeps safe in his patch in your garden!! Have a good week. Helen #2
ReplyDeleteWow Zsuzsa, all your projects are just stunning, and how productive you are! I can't believe how much you make, when there must be so many calls on your time with the family etc. I enjoyed reading about you and Oreo and the stand-off with the neighbour's cat! They are funny, aren't they. That's a gorgeous picture of him - he is looking very proud and handsome. I love his smart little tux. He looks quite fluffy these days - winter coat coming on!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting, and yes, I'm afraid this will be the last tiny carpet - at least for now. I have other projects calling for my attention and much as I enjoy doing the cross stitch, I have to think about some other stuff now! It will take me a bit of time to complete #6 but I'd like to have the final needle book completed by the end of the month.
Fermented tea does sound a bit odd, but it is really delicious. It doesn't really taste like tea. Kombucha has its own taste. You can buy it (much more expensive than making it) and you could try it and see. In the early days I used to do a second fermentation with added fruit (different flavours) but decided it wasn't worth the bother as we both enjoy the plain kombucha.
I love the music of the first half of the 20th century - ragtime, 20s, and big band. It gets my feet tapping! I often think I was born out of time... I'd have loved being a flapper I think!! As for the chewing, when we were eating our Thai curry for lunch today, I found myself chewing not 30 times, but 50! It's no hardship really, and it helps you really enjoy the food. My hubby is exactly like yours - he hoovers up his food (like Ruby, who often throws up if she's eaten her breakfast too quickly lol!) - he seems to think it's a race, and the more food he can get on his fork, the better! Not a pretty sight... And like yours, he never learns! I think it's a man thing... You are right, I wouldn't go for Slimfast - if you are hungry between meals, grab an apple! Haha! Bananas are good too.
Thank you for your very kind words about my version of the tunic top! You are right - that was Keira Knightley playing Lara.
I don't usually go shopping with a specific thing in mind but I did this time. What a miserable experience! I do nearly all my shopping online these days and that makes my very occasional shopping days in town a real treat. I hope they aren't going to be permanently relegated to the past now.
Happy WOYWW and have a great week - give Oreo a cuddle from me!

Fabulous work. So happy to see your obvious creative joy ♥
ReplyDeleteZsuzsa you have been busy - but I know what you mean about keeping on crafting after the inspiration of recent weeks. My grids are still in my head though! Love yours - especially the - no actually all three! I too have been using a 6 by 6 gel plate with the alcohol inks - but must try the metallics next.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting me (and your kind words)
Keep safe and stay well...
Happy WOYWW!

Hi Zsuzsa, wow, you certainly have been productive! When you're in the flow, you certainly go for it. I love the purple/gold print with the dragonfly, and the journal pages with Catherine of Aragon. Everything looks great! I do have a Gelli plate, but I'm very cautious when I use it - I really should be more adventurous, and see where it takes me. Thanks for stopping by earlier, and I am always very relaxed when I interview people, and put them at their ease, especially when they are nervous. I did enjoy making the blended background cards - I will, make some more of those. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #8
ReplyDeleteYou have been so productive! I especially love your three collages, and also the gelli prints. Well done for defending Oreo, hoping this other cat will understand his boundaries in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa, i'm so happy you stepped into protect sweet Oreo how rude of the other cat to come a wandering upon his patch Hissss!!! Love everyone of your gelli prints amazing how we can just keep going when we find our happy place.
ReplyDeleteLove your extra take on Laly's class, I was a very lucky bunny to be brought Soulful Abstracts course for my Birthday. The patchwork design is very close to my heart as I doodle in panels especially on fabric. Tis a great way of using up scraps and perfect for very quick cards. It's always so lovely to visit feel like sitting with a cuppa and a chill..
Take care lovely & stay very safe Hugs Tracey xx
Sorry I’m late! That is a good portrait of Oreo and I’m happy to read that there were no fisticuffs, OOh they can hurt each other. Your washi tape collection looks fab in those little drawers...so tidy, and so just waiting to be used. I really like the grids, such a great way of using up but creating too, I love it when things are totally different but a bit the same!
ReplyDeleteLove your grid projects, they are next on my list after watching Laly myself. You have a great washi collection. Angela #20 Sorry I am so late this week.
