WOYWW #610: The 100-day challenge and other things

I'm pretty sure my mojo lives on my desk and when I tidy up, I do away with my mojo as well. The exact same thing happened in January last year! However, I'm back today after a few weeks' absence to share my not-so-tidy desk on WOYWW. I'm sure it will now get progressively messier but if that's the price to pay for my mojo to return, so be it! Remember those inky bits I posted last time that I didn't know what to do with? I used them to make this little folder type thing:

But I'm getting ahead of myself. What really kicked me into action was The 100-day-project running on Instagram (#the100dayproject) that started on January 31st. I had pretty much decided NOT to do it (even though I'd been playing with the idea for the past couple of years) - but then I bumped into this blog post by Roben-Marie Smith which made me realise that it doesn't need to be a big thing and I CAN do it on my own terms, even if I joined in a bit late.

So I got cracking last week and came up with a concept: I'm working on 100 teabags in weekly batches of 7 with a theme for each week. I even made a prototype to see how it might work! I chose the theme "colourful postage stamps" for my first weekly batch and numbered them 001-007. This will help keep track - and I even found a little box where I can collect them! So this will keep me occupied until at least May - and it also allows me to indulge in other projects at the same time if I feel like it. This is what I posted for the first week:

In other news: I've finally finished the extremely fiendish circular puzzle. There was no way I would break it up after all the blood, sweat and tears, so I glued it together for eternity. (Now I don't know what to do with it LOL!) Interestingly, and inexplicably, I really missed it when it was finished - I can only liken the feeling to a kind of withdrawal syndrome! Here it is all glued together, just to prove that I did it:

I've also finished my second large diamond painting and I had to stop myself from starting another one. I call it my guilty pleasure! They're now both sealed and I'll have to find a way to hang them on the wall. They are quite pretty really when they twinkle, but it's hard to take a good photo.

We haven't had much snow around here but on a clear day you can see the Malvern Hills from the back of the house. They're much further than the photo shows - zoomed in, they almost look like mountains!

That's it for today! Thanks for your visit. Sending much love to Shaz and Doug, who are going through a rough time. Get well Shaz! We all miss you on WOYWW! xx

  1. Love the idea of using tea bags as a base for your 100 days project Zsuzsa. The perfect size so as not to feel overfaced with an ongoing challenge. Glad your mojo is back - keep your desk as messy as it needs to be. Well done with the jigsaw! Stay safe, Sarah #5

  2. I anticipate and dread visiting your blog in equal parts! Your work is stunning, your projects inspiring and I am tempted to jump on board with all of the challenges you discuss. I know I will not manage to keep up with them and admire your attitude towards them. That is not me - I'd be wracked with guilt as I let them slip away LOL!

The folder is stunning and the tea bags are genius. Love them so much!

    Happy WOYWW!

  3. Oh goodness I love everything! The little folder is perfect for so many things and has given me inspiration for a little project. I also love the tea bags - perfectly proportioned. I'm going to have to look those up. Good luck with the 100 day project.

  4. Ooooh, I really love that teal and orange combination, so funky! The teabags are stunning and I can see why you’re enjoying the project so much. That jigsaw is fantastic and well done on finishing it - reminds me I still have to glue the one of my two boys, it’s still under my bed, lol!

  5. I really love your stamp projects....love the colours you’ve used. I can see why you didn’t want to break up your jigsaw....well done you for finishing it.

  6. Gorgeous photo of the Malverns.
Love the little folder you have made - I bet it is quite substantial too as I imagine it has a fair amount of paint on it. I did a paper bag and it felt like leather with the paint so I am thinking it might feel similar.
Tea bags - now you might remember I love teabags. I can't stand the stuff to drink but I went through a phase of obsessively decorating them. Check out Ruby Silvious on Instagram she does amazing paintings on them. i have her book "365 Days of Tea" under the coffee table, fab!

  8. Ok, my beautiful friend.....I don't know whose eyes you think you are pulling the wool over, but MOJO is NOT something you lack!! Oh my gosh...first off, that folder/journal whatever....is OFF THE CHAIN! I am IN LOVE with it!! Oh my gosh! The colors are amazing and you just knocked it out of the park! Also, THOSE TEA BAGS!!! What??? They are GORGEOUS! I love each and every one! And what a find with the box to house them? You must give us a play by play on the tea bags! I've heard folks talk about them and using them in crafts, but I don't exactly know what the process is? Your really are fabulous Zsuzsa and you definitely have it going on. Whatever lost and found....keep it going!! LOL Thanks for stopping in on my blog last week and I think the time before as well. I ALWAYS LOVE hearing from you and it ALWAYS brings a smile to my face to see your comments! Blessings my far away friend! Felicia #30

  9. Wow, I'm loving your teabag art and how very coincidental that I've just found my bag of old dried tea bags and have started decorating a few to try and kick start my mojo - I absolutely love working on them, they are just the right size I think! That's a lovely idea of gluing your jigsaw in place so you always have it - there are several jigsaws that I know I will never never do again but I hate breaking them up when it's taken so long to complete them - that is a good idea of yours.
Hope you have a good week and enjoy your daily challenge,

  10. Lovely post, Zsuzsa. I love the folder with its gorgeous colours, and your teabag project is fabulous. I've got soooo many teabags (literally boxes full of them) and really need to think of what to do with them all. Your jigsaw looks well-nigh impossible to me, so very well done completing it. I still have no idea what Diamond painting is but I gather it's highly addictive!

Thank you for your visit. Those six kitty squares were indeed fiddly to do and I'm glad I'm not doing any more. I will be doing a lot more cat faces but they will be crocheted in the round and then the features embroidered before appliquéing them onto the squares I've already done - a lot easier that way.

I always send stuff back with the Tesco delivery man if I don't want them. They are always very good about giving refunds. Sometimes they've substituted things that I've really liked, and started buying on a regular basis thereafter - things that I might not have thought of buying. I took them to task once over a substitution - when I was still buying dried milk, they sent a pot of Marvel instead of Tesco's own - they charged me the Tesco's (lower) price but the pot was only 3/4 the size so I was actually getting less for my money (a bit like your chocolate experience) - I phoned them up and they gave me a refund for the whole thing. Usually the substitutions work out OK though. The suggestions always make my laugh on the website!

Glad you enjoyed the various funnies on my blog, and that the "Artificial stupidity" one caused so much amusement in your hubby's office!

Very worrying news indeed about Shaz. I am hoping someone will help me access the Facebook group thingy because not being on Facebook, I feel really out of touch. The latest news I have is what Doug wrote on her blog on Sunday.

    Happy WOYWW,

  13. It's great to see you busy at your desk and I'm with you as long as my desk is busy I seem to come up with more ideas. I really think they are moving along with the vaccines we didn't expect ours to happen until March at least but we are registered Carers for my mum so it did put us a bit higher on the list. It was quite pleasant as they were very organised with no queues. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x18x

  15. That's a great little wrap you created with your inky bit, would hold an ATC or a money card perfectly. I've seen lots of lovely things done with Teabags, one of my blog buddies uses them all the time, great little spaces to recycle whilst you make lots of lovely things. You did a cracking job on the world puzzle, you need to frame it now for display.
Happy to read your still enjoying the diamond painting, don't forget to share when finished. Hugs Tracey #36 xx

  16. Teabag as a base? I have round ones or triangle ones when the delivery van gets it wrong! But what a great idea and they have come out brilliantly! If your Earth puzzle is big enough how about it becoming a base for a small side table and the rap-a-round lovely colours!!
Stay safe, Keep on crafting! Stay well! Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #26!

  17. This 100-day-challenge sounds interesting and your tea bags are fantastic, Zsuzsa! I hope you will hold on, 100 days are a lot! But I am sure you will. I send the best wishes to Shaz and Dough. I do not know them, but I suppose that more positive thoughts are always welcome.

  19. Oh well done Zsu, the teabag idea is absolutely perfect! So do-angle and the first 8 are stunning. No surprise there, when you hit on an idea, your results always make me gasp! That puzzle. Amazing. I can see why you call it fiendish, but now it’s done, isn’t it beautiful. I don’t know what you can do with it either...if it was mine it would probably end up as a large mat on the counter in the loo!!

  20. HI Zsuzsa, I missed WOYWW this week - actually forgot it was Wednesday!! Anyway, just thought I'd have a nosey anyway. Looks like your mojo is back, LOVE the teabag idea and that first batch looks fabulous, what a great little collection you will have in that box by May. Love what you did with the inky papers too. That puzzle - WOW! - I couldn't have broken it up either, wonder if you can get circular frames??? Have a great week. Annie C xx

  21. Hi Zsuzsa. Oh my - for someone who says their mojo has disappeared... well, you have a lot of achievement to show us. The jigsaw is stunning - I see why you described it as fiendish! The "folder thing" is lovely -well done. A 100 day challenge - I would never manage it - but I do so wish you well with it. Colourful stamps, teabags - what more can you think up?!!
Loved the photo of the Malverns. It's always good to use a zoom lens - brings those glorious mountains closer when we can't get to them.
    Take care. God bless.

  22. Oh your mojo is definitely on the move. Great teabag project for the 100 days, I guess you have to drink the tea first - LOL. I only drink hot chocolate so I'd be stuck! Must go have a look at the links you gave us. Thanks for the visit BJ#18

  23. Good grief, you've been so creatively busy, Zsuzsa - I love it that you're doing the 100 day challenge (next year for me :D ) and LOVE those tea-bag finishes. I do like the way you've structured the challenge for yourself and will be watching!! Thanks for the inspiration!

Update on here in Victoria – we are in a snap lockdown again – hopefully only for a few days – but 5k limit, no visitors or gatherings, only leave the house for the 4 special reasons, only essential shops open…
