WOYWW #523: Friends Journal Spread

Hello again everyone! Have you had enough of the rain yet? I'm still enjoying the fresh feel, though I'm getting a bit tired of getting soaked every time I go somewhere. Oreo's not a fan either, being cooped up at home when he could be outside looking for mice. Perfect opportunity to get my fingers inky though. Here's a look at my desk earlier this week:

I hadn't done a journal page in ages and it always feels great to go back to one of  my altered books. This particular one only has a couple of pages finished, so plenty of room to go forward. Here's the background I created after adding some colour over the collage and gesso layers - I stayed with my trusted Prussian Blue and Sepia acrylic inks:

Using some Tim Holtz imagery and other die-cuts and bits and bobs on my desk, I ended up with this Friends spread, inspired by our WOYWW meet-up last week. And as if by magic - the word "Julia's" appeared on one of the random book page scraps I used. I swear I did not look for it (what would be the chances of finding it in a book, anyway?) It's just a lucky coincidence - serendipity at its best! I didn't even notice it until after I'd stuck it down!

Short and sweet this week (though photo-heavy). Just one one more photo to share of Oreo watching a video game with my son - these two are as thick as thieves!

Happy #523! I'll be over visiting later today! I may have to skip next week as we have somewhere to go but I'll be back soon enough I promise! xx

  1. Your spread in your altered book is magical. I was so impressed with the colors, the various images, die cuts, postage stamps, EVERYTHING. This was fabulous. Oreo looks pretty happy too, for being held captive inside. Happy WOYWW from # 8.

  2. Oh boy... Oreo is like a magic eye picture, i'm trying to work out if he's facing towards or away from the screen haa haa!! What a super journal page, I have missed my journal and am just itching to get back into it but there's too many catch ups and boring normals to get done before I can get down and do!! (If that makes any sense what so ever!!) Would have loved to have made the crop and met up with you.. one day soon fingers crossed. Wishing you a fab rain free day, it's stopped her but only for a moment!
    Happy WoywW Hugs Tracey xx

  5. Hi Zsuzsa, what a coincidence! And framed by the Butterfly beautifully.Lovely spread, gorgeous colours. Laughing at Oreo! Our cat Ambrose used to be the same with my youngest son, it's like he was attached to him by a length of elastic! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #10 X

  6. I hate to say it but I think Oreo "needs to go to Specsavers". That is a wonderful photo of the two of them - lovely to look back on.
As for your journal page - it certainly has the WOW factor for me. Love your colour choice and all the additions to it.
3rd picture down of the pages before anything was added - the bottom left quarter - it looks almost three dimensional. Kind of as if a bit is lifted up - it is just lovely.
    Hugs, Neet x xx
ps it was so good to finally meet you xx

  7. Lovely pages, with your signature colours, Zsuzsa, and I love the pic of Oreo watching the video game! Thank you for your visit. The Tekinetic is known as the "mountain bike of wheelchairs." What I didn't try was the wheelchair in "mean" mode, with the wheel camber altered for rough terrain. The "lean" mode enables it to go through standard doorways. In "mean" mode it is incredibly stable. People have been to the top of Mt. Snowdon in them. I'm very happy to be getting it in 2 months rather than 4. Each one is individually made and the factory is small, so you can't buy them off the peg. You can choose various options off their long checklist.

What you described with Oreo on your legs is a case of "cat paralysis." You can't move a muscle when they are on you! I only have to move a bit and they get off - they know when I want to get up. Also, as soon as they hear my hubby coming in, they tend to get off because it's usually the signal either to go in the garden for a while, or to be fed! Glad you enjoyed the kitty photos. You are right, they are utterly spoilt, especially by my hubby!

    Happy WOYWW,

  8. Your spread in this altered journal ist just great! I love the butterfly, the stamps and the so many other details! The picture of your son with Oreo in front of the video game made me laugh, it is so typical. I hope the weather will improve soon, it should be summer now. I was in Sweden two weeks ago and it was too chilly as well...

  9. I just love your journal spread - I really must consider more layers in mine! Happy WOYWW. with love & God Bless. Caro (#19) xxx

  10. Gorgeous journal pages! chuckling at Caro's comment about layers, my journal is nearly full and so bulky the spine is breaking. I know lots of people do cut the spine and reinforce it, I may be forced to with this one! Have a great week. Helen #9

  11. I'm back, I've just seen your comment on my Kew post (thank you for taking the time) last week, I "only" took 300 photos... the week before it was over 600.... thank goodness for digital cameras! Helen x

  12. Guess what? it's raining again! As much as I know we needed rain it's just gone mad. Even Stan turned round and came straight back in and that's not like him at all. Maisie sniffed the air and decide she really didn't need to go out after all. Good job we have the pond netted as the water is so high now but yes it's a good time to craft and loving your journal pages. Have a lovely week and a fun woyww, Angela x13x

  13. Hi Zsuzsa, it's rained every day here for a week or so - fed up of it now! Great journal pages, how marvellous that Julia's name popped up! I've not tried a journal yet - but Helen's at the Crop, and in her blog is lovely, as is yours, and Neets, and a few others. You are all very talented ladies. Maybe one day I will try ... thanks for stopping by my blog, I really can't cope with such a messy desk, so it will get blitzed tomorrow, ready for crafting at the weekend. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #1×

  14. Love serendipitous words. Raining here too but probably our temperatures are lower. I don't like the grey days...hope it brightens for our weekends xo

  15. Love the spread Zsuzsa and the serendipity of the words. I am fed up of the rain too. Those books don't actually take too much time to mark as I go through them after every lesson so the marking doesn't build up (only 25minutes for the whole pile). Meow to Oreo and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

  17. I looked for the 'clue' you mentioned (the Johnson-cans maybe?) but as you say: nobody will notice. I love the art journal spread, the texture an colours makes me wanna dive into my altered book and make a spread like that, and how special that Julia popped up! "Accidents" like that make the heart sing isn't it?! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. Happy - belated - woyww, hug from Holland. Marit #21

  19. Great page - I love the colours and the embellishments! And isn't serendipity wonderful! I just bought another TH paper dolls set, I now have 3. I really want the wildflower die cut too, but my local stamp store doesn't have it, I will probably have to order it. Oreo looks right in his element, he just needs a controller! I'm late getting to WOYWW, but on Saturday mornings I have a little time! Have a great week, Lindart #30
