WOYWW #580: Blogiversary, Tiny Book and Die-cut Petals

I wanted to link up two weeks ago and again last week - I even had my photos prepared - but just didn't have the time, so I'm writing this well in advance for the nice "round" #580 of WOYWW aka Julia's long standing desk hop, now in its twelfth year! Incidentally, it was my 6th blogiversary earlier this month and as it's customary, I've made a collage of my favourite projects this past year, many of which you probably still remember.

My desk has seen some action in the past two weeks as well. I've made another Tiny Book with the Eileen Hull die (which is not that tiny after all!) and I also got the matching book case die from Craft Stash. I didn't really need these dies but I figured it was my patriotic duty to help the British economy recover, so I'm just doing my bit, as I'm sure you all do too :) My desk actually shows a gelli printing session - it was the easiest way to put paint on my book case and I made some prints as well while I was at it. I covered the Tiny Book with fabric and used the gelli prints on the inside cover and sewed some tea-dyed papers inside.

The Tiny Book is actually big enough to put something in it, so I've made a sample page featuring postage stamps and die cut rose petals. The petals actually cut very well - they're a bit fragile to work with but no more than tissue paper. I pressed them first for a couple of weeks and they cut just like paper.

And here's a real life petal in a new hanging basket I acquired for the garden - just love that deep purple - hey, wasn't that the name of a band?!

We had this little garden visitor as well - this must be a good summer for hedgehogs as we've seen six of them in just the past three weeks, while none in the previous 3 years!

Thanks for visiting today - I'll be over soon. Look forward to catching up!
Happy #580!

  1. That's awesome having all those hedgehogs as their numbers are falling, so yay for your garden! Love the little book, I knew it would be yours even if not featured on your blog as it's in your signature colours, lol!!

  5. I've seen a couple of posts about hedgehogs this week - can only be good I guess! Haven't seen one for years. Loving your display of work, wish mine was as lovely. I have yet to use my EH tiny book die - getting there slowly, I think a play with my EH dies will be my treat when all the clearing up of WIPS and NBUs is done. Probably have run out of mojo by then though!! Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #11

  10. I had a hedgehog the other day too - yours if much prettier than mine, it had a quite long snout. I got quite excited as it is a few years since I saw one in the garden, the last one had babies and it was fun watching them following mum down the side of the fencing.
Always a pleasure to see your annual display of what you have done, i love the teal.patina colours so much. My favourites! So you can imagine how much I love that box you have made for your tiny journal that is not so tiny. Great sample page you did too.
Hope we see more of your work as the weeks go by
    Hugs, Neet 4 xx

  11. Great to see your little visitor. It's difficult for them to get in our garden now but I sometimes see them round the front at night. Great collection of projects you have on show and the Gelli printed papers. Have a lovely week and a very happy woyww, Angela x14x

  12. Gorgeous work. Especially love those cut rose petals and turquoise with gold is always a winner. I had my 10th! bloggiversary on Monday but didn't post cos I had my surgery. Recovering well - results end of next week. Keep everything crossed for me. I think I'll go and do a bloggiversary post now ♥

  14. Welcome back, Zsuzsa - I always miss you when you're not on WOYWW! I love the photo montage you've done of your projects, and I can see your favourite colour predominating! I love that colour too. I love your latest tiny book with its gorgeous case - the die-cut pressed flowers and postage stamps look beautiful on the pages. Such a gorgeous project! Cute little garden visitor too. We had a frog this evening that my hubby saw when he was emptying the bins but when I went out, it had gone. I hope the kitties don't catch it!

Thank you for visiting, and I'm glad you like my hippy outfit! I'm a real child of the 60s... I always call that garment a top rather than a dress, despite its length, because I always wear it over trousers or leggings. I got a new Indian skirt from Ebay today and will probably model that next week!

I'm so glad you like my tiny carpet designs. I started stitching the first one and it's coming out very well so far. I have to have good light and magnification (anno domini I'm afraid - I used to work 28 sts per inch with no glasses in the old days!!) and working with a single strand of stranded cotton is very fine work. I'm glad you are enjoying my annotated kitty photos! You can see them working things out and definite thought processes going on, and changes in their facial expressions - almost human! I hope Oreo is OK - I miss seeing photos of him. Give him a cuddle from me!

    Happy belated WOYWW,
