#WOYWW #613: Lots of hearts

I'm still on a creative roll and been working with hearts this past week. It all started with those teabags for my 100-day project and since I had some leftover heart shapes and tea bags, I also made a journal page with them. Here's my desk shot taken on Saturday afternoon (I think):

You can just about make out my teabag collection building up in the little box in the back. Here are some close-ups - first, I coloured the backgrounds with distress oxides before adding some torn heart shapes:

My journal layout features bits and pieces that were lying around my desk - these are usually trial pieces that unsuccessfully auditioned for other projects - but ended up in a better position in the end! The layout started out with this background that was made with book pages I used to mop up the excess distress oxides from the tea bag project.

Then I added some elements: tea bags, heart shapes torn from coloured tea bags/book pages and printouts from a dictionary page that I scanned in and tinted with distress oxides. I've also added some stencilling with crackle paste and typed a quote directly on a teabag. The white crackle paste picked up some of the distress oxides from the background (even though I thought I had sealed it!), which gave me the idea to add some more subtle colour here and there.

And then there was the new weekly challenge in the Mixed Media Emporium Facebook group. We had to create something with the collaged masterboard we did last week. Well, I got into a bit of a pickle with this one LOL - but I think I managed to bring it back from the brink of extinction - with some hearts, what else?!

That's it in a not-so-small nut shell. I hope everyone's copying well as life is slowly beginning to return back to normal.  Of course, Shaz is never far from our thoughts... xx

  2. Your hearts make me smile every week. Just love them - and the journal page. One of my all time favourite scrapbook layouts was made from the stuff at the bottom of my crop bag at one of Julia's crops. Have I mentioned it before? Probably :) Like our WOYWW host, I have lockdown brain BAD this week....

    Happy desk hopping' day!

  3. Morning Zsuzsa. Oh my - you really have been using up all those hearts this week, haven't you! Well done. I love the pattern on the big blue butterfly on that big page in your journal. Great.
    Take care. God bless.

  6. You certainly are on a creative Roll, how lovely to see you still making the most of those Teabags, waste not want not was my Grandads moto as he'd always use them to fertilise his allotment. The continuation of the heart theme is beautiful, sharing the love of it all with us. My head is all over the place with makes right now, far too many things unfinished and many false starts in the crafty zone. Maybe i'm waiting for the weather to call me back to the garden again. WoywW Hugs Tracey xx
P.S I do hope the plants have not been damaged by the frosts x

  7. Your journal pages are so lush! I love all the layers and bit peeking through from each one. As for your masterboard project with the hearts, it doesn't look like it was ever endangered in any way, let alone on the brink of extinction! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #7

  8. Scrumptious creations as usual, I'm nearly feeling like journaling, nearly...
Love how you have stencilled over the butterfly wing, yes truly scrumptious.
PS Hoping to finish the scrapping well before the end of the year, but who knows.
    Thanks for the visit BJ#13

  9. Your journal pages are sooo beautiful but it’s almost a shame that they’re covered up. You’d make a fortune selling those framed up on Etsy! It’s the combo of colours, I love that denimy blue and the butterflies and hearts are so gorgeous. The tea bag hearts are brilliant too, a row of those in a frame would also be fab, just sayin’!!

  10. Beautiful work as always!! Need to start something a bit more creative but not quite there yet... Yes we did have to 'de-invite' around 70 people to the wedding. Or from, not sure which is correct. You are right though its the marriage not the wedding that counts. But for most young girls a wedding is a big thing and I particularly feel for DIL2B, she's been through a lot for her age. Secretly, I think the downsizing is a relief to them both, they are very private and shy people and I think the enormity of being the centre of attention was weighing on them. As for wifi - you can even get an electric toothbrush that's connected these days!! Have a great week, stay well stay safe, love n hugs, Cindy x #18

  11. Hello, my lovely friend!! Thanks for stopping by today and as always, your lovely words of encouragement!! I always miss you guys when I can't make it on Wednesdays!! I have to get back on and see ALLL the awesomeness that I missed the previous week! I feel out of the loop when I miss, you know what I mean? LOL So today, you have it going on my friend! I continue to be in love with your teabag projects!!! I so need to know your process. I see a lot of folks doing "tea stained" or "coffee stained" things and I don't know how to do that. I guess I need to do the old YouTube binge watching!! LOL Yours are just fabulous!! And your journal spread is gorge!! I, of course, love that dragonfly!!! And your sentiment is ME!!!!! Just an awesome spread with your leftovers!! They do come in handy!! Not sure where your pickle came in on that master board, but those ATC's are awesome!! They "hearts" make it! LOLOL Your colors are always so vivid and I just love what you did with these! You always have the touch Zsuzsa!! Well my friend, thanks again for stopping by and I hope you and your little family, including Oreo, are safe and healthy!! Blessings to you! Many hugs from afar! Felicia #26

  13. Hi Zsuzsa, love your heart pictures and your dragonfly and butterfly pages. How did you do the dragonfly? I read on the FB group about a tutorial for textured hearts. I couldn’t find the tutorial, but I am guessing it wouldn’t be too difficult to add some texture to my master boards and cut out some hearts. Have a great week Angela #17

  14. Oh wow, Zsuzsa, your teabag hearts are brilliant! One day I shall get to grips with my enormous teabag collection and make something of them... I love the colours you have chosen, and the spattering which really sets them off. Your butterflies are fantastic, too. Sorry not to see Oreo this week, though.

Thank you for your visit - yes, I couldn't resist photographing Ruby in my bag! She hopped in again last night but got out again before I could give her another cable car ride. I'm glad you are enjoying the progress of the cat blanket. There's still a fair bit to do but at least I've got all the squares made now. I'm really enjoying my chia puddings, especially with the addition of the oats, and I love my toppings which add such a variety of flavour and texture. I like arranging them on top and making them look decorative!

I remember Shaz telling us she'd had one of those ancestry DNA tests done - she was not only Scandinavian, but Viking!! That explains a lot haha! I do love my Norwegian knits.

    Happy WOYWW,

  15. Gorgeous work. Your mojo is most definitely with you while mine has disappeared for a bit! The heat here is tiring. But I am not complaining -
Autumn will be here soon enough.

  19. Hi Zsuzsa, the hearts and teabags are gorgeous, as is the butterfly. I often have lovely images in my head, but nothing ever translates to looking as good when I try to create it. Your creations always look perfect, but then you have the talent to go with it - I just have the dreamy ideas lol. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #25

  20. I am loving the fact that you are hooked on tea bags. It is so comforting to know that I am not the only one who finds them so useful in art.
Your journal pages are fabulous - I need to do more journaling than I do as I don't think the ones I do at present are satisfying me these days. I want to be a lot more free with my art than the present parameters of my journaling allow. Thanks for inspiring me.

  23. Oh my, you’re right, you are on a roll. Fired up and working that mojo gal, I’m loving it! The teabags are gorgeous, it looks as though you’ve hand coloured each border, what a great outcome. And surely no one can resist a set of colourful hearts. Perfect part of the collection.

Sorry I'm late this week, I've barely been at the computer since I started a huge clear out in my studio area but I'm giving my back a rest today!
Enjoy the rest of the week,
