WOYWW #604: Completed advent journal, more diamond painting and a tidy desk!

I hope everyone's having a wonderful holiday period. Christmas 2020 is done and dusted and there are only 30 odd hours left of this topsy turvy year. I surprised myself by completing my advent journal right on time AND tidying my desk as well before ringing in the New Year. Here it is shown for my WOYWW visitors - see, I can do tidy!

These are the advent journals I made in the past three years - this year's the smallest yet! The last two pages are shown below, along with a short video flip-through:

Day 23: Silent Night

Day 24: My word for 2021

I've also completed a couple of "diamond painted" mandalas. You might think this sort of "art" doesn't match my otherwise messy style, but the little girl in me wants bling, so I have to let her have it! It's not exactly a creative activity, but so relaxing and rewarding! The first one is a card that will be winging its way to friend soon and the other is a bedside lamp that's already in use! So pretty!

We've had some snow as well! Very little though, which was a bit disappointing. Here's Oreo looking on, trying to figure out what the white stuff was:

Here he is again on the other side of the room, warming his bum on the radiator. My hub's posing with his Christmas present, an annual subscription to Viz magazine and I even managed to snag the current issue on Ebay - and it arrived just in time for Christmas. Apparently, 89% of their readership is male and 55% university educated! I guess, it's a British thing, which in itself I find funny!

Wishing everyone a very happy 2021!

  1. I loved the advent journal flip through - I don't normally watch flip throughs on you tube, but I am so glad I did - had no idea it was so dinky - it's gorgeous! Didn't realise Viz was still going - hope hubby enjoys his gift! Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year, stay safe. Helen #5

  3. WELL DONE my beautiful friend!! Your desk looks amazing and so does that Advent journal! LOVED the flip through! There is not one page that wasn't gorgeous!!! Ok, I have not tried the diamond painting, but what is so stinking funny is that I have ventured back into dot painting mandalas, which, once again, just goes to show you how much we are alike!! GREAT MINDS, I tell you, GREAT MINDS!!! I have already started the wheels turning for next years Christmas projects and I hope to maybe, for the first time EVER, get them done WAY before Christmas so that I can focus on other holiday stuff at that time!!! We shall see! LOLOL We have had NO snow.....which we don't usually, LOL, but sometimes we get shocked with "flurries!" We have had a few cold snaps, but nothing to write home about! I LOVE, LOVE wearing sweaters, hats, mittens, scarfs, etc....so winter without that is a bummer!!! I have worn a coat a time or two....LOLOLOLOL!!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas. Looks like hubby did! Hope Santa came to see you as well my friend! I wish only the BEST for you in 2021 filled with lots of great joy, craftiness and health! Many, many blessing to you my lovely friend! Felicia

  4. The journal is completely gorgeous and very you! Each page is beautiful and lovely to look at, you’re so clever. And I’d never heard of diamond art before you and Ali started doing it, it’s the sort of thing I’d probably enjoy but I’m going to be strong!! Nice to see the snow but I’m glad we don’t have any here in Wales, we’re staying indoors though as it’s freezing outside! Viz is hilarious, I’m surprised it’s still going - hope your hubby enjoys the laugh!
    Happy New Year,

  5. Your Advent album flip-through is great, Zsuzsa. Gorgeous pages, every one. Lovely to see Oreo watching the snow! I can't believe how tidy your desk is.

Thank you for your visit. You are right, kitties can't see close up, and their colour vision is limited compared with ours, too. Lily loves watching TV and is fascinated when there are kitties on! The kitty throw is a kitty throw because it's on a kitty theme, but I do realise that its meaning is going to change as soon as it's finished! I shall have to post some photos of the kitties taking it over. Glad you liked the Afghan Nomad Dress. As for my wardrobe, it's behind the mirrors you can see in the photo - my clothes are in the far left and far right sections. In the middle, where the old chimney breast is, are shelves for books and ornaments, and I've also got shelves with spare stationery. I have a chest of drawers for my jumpers, socks and undies. I do rather fancy one of those American-style walk-in closets though!!

Happy New Year to you both, and I hope your hubby enjoys his magazine sub. Mine decided against having his this year - I've been giving him a metal detecting one for several years and he felt he wanted a change. He has no idea what his (late) Christmas present is going to be!

    Happy WOYWW,

  6. I meant to say how much I liked your mandalas - so pretty and sparkly! Also, if you want to see some more fun bee pictures, click on the link to my Flickr album with the whole of the beehive box. All the tags are humorous interpretations of life inside the hive. I had such fun with that project.

  9. Hi Zsuza, your advent journal is gorgeous, thank you for sharing. I love the diamond mandalas too - but I'm with Jan. I am resisting, although if you and Ali keep posting how good they look, I know I will give in sooner or later. We have had some snow, but not too much. However, we have just been put in Tier 4, so it's OK if the snow stays - we won't be going out anywhere. Have a lovely week and Happy New Year, hugs Heather xx #30

  10. It may be small but it is filled with beauty. I especially like the two new pages. Thanks for doing the video, it was a joy to watch.
We didn't get much snow, just a sprinkling like dusting icing sugar on a cake through a sieve but it has been very dam, cold and foggy these past two days. I don't like it like that as it is dangerous when driving. Not that we are going anywhere now we are in Tier 4 but we didn't go anywhere anyhow so it doesn't matter to us but I worry for others.
Here's to a better year ahead than the one we have just had. Keep crafting, blogging and stay safe, happy and well.
    Hugs, Neet 13 xx

  11. Your little journals are wonderful, love them to bits. Viz! I had no idea it was still going and I'm sure hubby will enjoy it, I have memories of seeing it around when I was at teacher training college but my hubby is more interested in the MG magazine ( Big Boys toys as they say!) Hoping for a better New Year. Sending woyww hugs, Angela x17x

  14. What a smashing way to show the glory of your 2020 Kasia's advent the smaller the better for me and a wonderful little keepsake and as for the diamond painting of course it fits in with your creative journey, we all crave a little bit of bling even if it's hidden deep down inside of us all. I think even Tim Holtz will allow a dot and dab of stickles every now and then hee hee!! It's sure been amazing having you as a blogging buddy, thanks for the fun and laughs and creative guide. I hope one day we will meet for a good old giggle.. Sending Happy, healthy WoywW Hugs Happy 2021 Tracey xx
P.S Laughed at Hubby & his Viz, I brought my Hubby the full set of Adrian Moles Diarys, perfect toilet reading hee hee!! xx

  15. HI Zsuzsa - that's so strange, I gave my husband a Viz sub for Christmas too and he had just the same smile on his face!! LOVe your advent journal, it's so "you", so beautiful and I really enjoyed the video. I know what you mean about being drawn to those diamond paintings, and they're such a relaxing activity too. Have you seen those "dot mandalas" that you do with dots of gloopy paint? I keep meaning to try one of those, they look fab as well - another one to add to the "to do" list! Wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy 2021 Zsuzsa X Annie C #28

  16. Oh that journal is just beautiful! well done - you must be really pleased with it! I think you’re totally right about Viz, it must be very make humour because so much of it is either beyond me or well, not making me laugh!! My sis does a lot of the diamond art and I totally get your need to do it now and then...order, not a lot of thinking and lovely sparkle, what’s not to like!!
