WOYWW #601: Post-Crop and Advent Journal week#1

First of all, I'd like to say how wonderful it was to see so many of you (and your pets!) at the virtual crop! It did feel a bit like we were in the same room, although perhaps slightly chaotic at times! Here are some screenshots I took, in lieu of a group photo. The morning session followed by two screens of the afternoon session - and Julia was worried she would be sitting there all by herself LOL! Apologies for Oreo being so anti-social - although he did make a very short appearance during the morning session! He spent the rest of the day asleep and I would not dare wake him!

It was fun and I made a load of gelli prints while listening to the chatter! Here are some of them just to prove that I wasn't completely idle!

I've already used some of these prints in my Advent Journal, as you'll see. I've managed to keep on track completing each page as the prompts were released this past week. This was my desk last night while working on yesterday's prompt. You can see how small my journal is - it's much easier and quicker to work on a small scale for daily prompts!

My pages from December 2 - December 8 are below. I think day 7 is my favourite (a winter walk) which just fell together but I had fun working on all of them.

And now for some enabling! I've recently bought some second hand mixed media books - they are all so exciting and inspiring - seriously they make my heart beat faster! They are quite old (from around 10 years ago), but I like them more than some of the new releases and they are much cheaper second hand as well. I think one of them was under £5 delivered!

Now that Christmas decs are officially allowed, we dug up this ice palace from a few years ago - we couldn't use it last year as we didn't have a transformer and it was eating up the batteries like there was no tomorrow, but this year we found the perfect spot for it in the window connected to the mains. It looks so pretty lit up at night. I think we got it from Home Bargains when we first moved in - it would have been a shame to keep it in the attic.

Happy #601 and Happy Wednesday! xx

  1. I don't know about your heart beating faster I was hyperventilating at your post today. Your art work is fab and I love the photo of everyone at Saturdays shindig. I was desperately writing names down - no cropping done I'm afraid - but got in a mess when I had to change screens to see who was talking! Early days!! Take care with hugs from Sue #24 xxx

  3. Oh your pages are absolutely beautiful, I adore the colours and the leaves on 'a winter walk' are fabulous. It was lovely seeing you on Saturday - I'm sorry I didn't hear you ask about the Guinea pig - he started scrapping with the other one as their dinner was a little late so I scooped him up to distract him for a while to give the other one a break! I tried asking you if you were gelli printing at one point (or ironing!) as there was a lot of arm movement going on but it was rather impossible to be heard - it was a little overwhelming when we went on to two pages of people!
Hope you have a great week,
    Diana xx #20

  6. Zsuzsa my friend! It was sooooooo good to get to see your smiling face on Saturday!! I was so disappointed that we didn't get to really speak to one another, save a hand wave!!!! LOL Everyone was so chatty, which I loved, but I wish we could have chatted!!! And....I missed seeing Oreo!! I totally understand though, our cats were had their time and space as well! LOL I knew you were busting out some work because I was watching you! I LOVE all those pulls!! And your Advent journal looks great with some of those in it!! I love each spread, but I really like the last spread you shared! Also, I see something at the back of your desk peeking out that looks fabulous...like a three panelled watercolor card???? It looks pretty from here, you must share!!!! Ok, lets talk about the books!! Why oh why would you do that to us!! You KNOW we are all going to have to go do a search on those guys and slip them right over into our baskets!! Hello my name is Felicia and I'm an art ANYTHING addict!!! 8. I really LOVED seeing you on Saturday at the crop/zoomfest. I can't believe you got so very much accomplished in the times we were together. I was so in awe of all those gelli prints you made and that journal is to die for. It is marvelous. I always love visiting because of the great art you create, whether it's using some kind of assemblage or paper art. Happy WOYWW from #2.

  9. I forgot to mention that I have the first two books you showed. The only one I don't have is by Kahn. I still get inspiration from the other two, since I love to sew as much as I love to make altered book. Of course, I only sew wonky and tear everything. I also don't believe in pinning. I still think you are going to LOVE these books.

    1. I'm with you on the wonky sewing! I only every sew for mixed media - I couldn't put together anything neat and tidy! Those are marvellous books - mixed media has evolved away from that look a decade ago for some reason, but I really love how it used to be - it's time to bring it back!

  10. What a brilliant idea to post some screen grabs of our Zoom meeting, Zsuzsa! It was fun looking at them. I see I've got a kitty in one pic but she's got her head down so I couldn't identify her! It was great fun but a shame we couldn't have better conversations really, with there being so many people and everybody talking at once. I'm amazed you were able to do some art while it was all going on - I was just on the recliner! I love all your pieces and pages this week. Thank you for your visit immediately after the Zoom session. I looked at those little stencils you've got, and quite a few of them are the same designs as mine, but of course you've got more in that set. I think they will be very useful, and what a bargain they were!

    1. I've got the bigger ones as well! (same as yours) I figured at that price you can't go wrong. I've already used both sets!

  11. I love your pages! I always enjoy going back and looking at past publications. Often I find techniques or design styled that are not "trendy" but that often elevate my projects when I use them!

  12. Hi Zsuzsa, lovely to see you on Saturday, the Zooms were a lot of fun, and almost like a real crop, very little crafting, but a whole lot of talking!lol. But you did some lovely pieces there, so well done. Great find on the books, I have one I think you'd love, it's called Paper Transformed, by Julia Andrus, I picked it up on Amazon a few years ago, I'll try and remember to include it in my blog post next week. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #12 X

  13. Hi Zsuzsa, you're so right it was brilliant on Saturday and can't wait to do it again. I thought I'd never get to the posts today, three deliveries of craft stuff, one delivery of a surprise raffle prize, walking dogs, sorting mum's vaccination, trying to finish some cards and that's without the usual stuff like cooking Lol! Loving your Gelli prints they are great. The books are going to be so useful. I love anything to do with Sherrill Khan and have that same book and some of her old stamps which I must get out again some time, you would love them. Wishing you a lovely creative week, Angela x19x

  14. Thanks for your visit, Zsuzsa - I think the kitties were well behaved because they are so used to being on the sharp end of a camera lol! Mum used to say about our old kitties that they were the most photographed cats in the world, but they weren't a patch on these two photogenic little darlings haha! I couldn't see which one was on your screen grab because she had her head down.

It was so nice to see familiar faces "in the flesh" and moving and chatting, wasn't it. There were several on there that I wouldn't have recognised because their faces don't show on their blogs. Diana Taylor looked completely different from how I imagined, for example! I just wish it had been easier to have a proper chat with various people, rather than having to compete against a general cacophony and only a few getting the lion's share... When my hubby popped in a couple of times he was appalled lol! He's always on Zoom with various groups and I think they are a lot more disciplined! Glad you liked my name badge. Shame it fell off so early on! I did consider tying a bandana around my head and pinning it on there!

I don't think I'd bother to make all this speciality bread if I hadn't got my new machine. It makes it so easy. I order all my wholefood supplies online and it was a doddle to do it. Such delicious bread and well worth doing. I used to make all my bread by hand, and then with the aid of a stand mixer but rarely do that these days unless I need to make a plaited challah loaf or rolls.

Give that naughty antisocial little Oreo a stroke from me, and tell him I want to see him properly on the next Zoom! I'm afraid ours get woken up if they are asleep and we want them. Lily in particular sleeps for England and she can sacrifice a few minutes for our benefit! Ruby is a lot more restless.

They are really enjoying the new furniture we bought especially for them, and in their own colour scheme too. They graciously allow us to sit on it from time to time. My hubby hoovered all over it today to remove all their evidence - it will be good to have throws eventually. Slow progress is being made on the kitty one.

  15. Hi Zsuzsa, it was lovely to meet you again on Saturday - quite chaotic, and I couldn't follow much on my tablet. You certainly managed to do plenty of work ... I was concentrating on my crochet stitches. Your journal pages are wonderful as always - you are such a talented lady. Thanks for stopping by, and your kind words on my quilt and blankets. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17

  18. I can imagine the ice palace looks fabulous in your window to people outside - like winter wonderland for them. What a lucky find in Home Bargains.
I never got my screen to look like that. Mine had a big picture of the person speaking and a row at the top of tiny faces. I did not now it any other way - guess I need to experiment with it.
Love your Gelli prints, but then I always do.
    Hugs, Neet 8 xx

  22. Hi Zsuzsa! Thanks for the screen shots! I still need to put names to faces and this was great. There are a couple of questions that you may or may not know the answer to - Who is Galaxy 10? Morti? Darnell? Dave D? Thanks!
I love your journal pages, love the colours, the layers, everything. Good thing card making is over and I can play again. I may get my geli plate out!
Your Ice Palace is spectacular, and in front of the window it gets the reflection as well - so cool! Sorry I'm so late this week, thanks for your lovely comments, have a great week, hugs to Oreo (I missed him!) Lindart #31
