Well, I'm back again on WOYWW two weeks running! An accomplishment in itself. I was hugely inspired by the Lifebook Taster sessions that started on Monday. Access is free for two weeks (until October 11th), though Tam extended access by another week in previous years, so I won't be surprised if that's the case this year too! You can check out all the lessons here - new sessions are released every day. The Facebook group for those of you who are interested can be found here.
I'm not going to complete all the lessons, just the ones that inspire me most. Instead of the warm-up activity, I made a journal page last weekend. This is my desk during the proceedings (you'll notice I'd tidied my desk a bit - yes, that's tidy for me!):
I actually struggled with this page a bit as I was trying to follow a tutorial and copy someone else's style. It wasn't until I fell back into my own process that I felt comfortable with the page - I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Anyways, here's the complete spread (it has some pressed flowers and leaves I collected from the garden back in the summer):
Then yesterday I braved one of the newly released LifeBook Taster sessions, a lesson by Laly Mille. She created some twinchies (two inch squares) to inspire us. These can be used as backgrounds or just on their own. I've left mine blank for now, but I might add some motifs to them later. I loved this lesson and I extended it by creating a set of 4 cards as well with the leftover pieces that I decorated with postage stamps and the words that inspired the colour scheme. Here they are for your viewing pleasure:
Gorgeous Twinchies Zsuzsa. I like the mix of stamping and collage on your journal page too. Hope the plants bounce back from the hail. Meow to Oreo. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #5
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit like a recipe isn't it? Good to get the inspiration but then we all do our own thing afterwards. I like the journal plages very much but really like those little squares, they look like medieval tiles to me. Gorgeous colours!

Mmm ... I like your journal pages but I am not sure it would be my style either. But the twinchies, now those I do like and could enjoy making. I love backgrounds and when I have time I will be making some Masterboards with different techniques which I can then cut up into something to use somewhere. Sounds awfully vague doesn't it! I mean like my atc coins - two of the ones this week were left over bits or 'gone wrong' bits for a workshop at some time that I saved.
ReplyDeleteHope your flowers survived that outburst, it sounded good in a way but then it was not hitting my flowers was it.
Stay safe and well, Hugs, Neet 8 xx
Hi Zsuzsa, I think we all struggle to work in anothers style, and prefer to put our own spin on things. Love all the cards, and the twinchies. You are very into blue, aren't you, lol. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz X #6.
ReplyDeleteWow what beauties those twinchies are but you know how I love a journal page xx have a great week .. Helen #3.
ReplyDeleteCame back to answer your comment. Yes I do get up at 5.30 to get to kew for 8am in summer. Its worth it for the light though and the photos x
ReplyDeleteZsuzsa, what are you talking about??? Your crafting is ALWAYS easy on the eyes!! You have such a great eye and sense of color!! I love your journal spread and especially that you incorporated all of those goodies from your own yard!! The twinchies are AWESOME!!! I love, love them!! The colors are fabulous and all that yummy texture. The composed four are just fabulous!! I love stamps and really don't have any or have every used them in my crafting, but I see so many folks doing that and it just looks like great! It just adds that little touch, you know?? It has gotten cooler here as well, but Georgia is KNOWN for "tricking" its residents....which is so fitting for October!!! LOLOL I hope your precious plants survived!! So glad to get back chatting with you my friend!! Happy Wednesday and have an AWESOME rest of the week! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa. My goodness - that hail was really making its presence felt, wasn't it?!The little twinchies are lovely. Don't think I would ever achieve anything like that, but I can gaze at yours! I like the wording on your journal page - encouraging others to take a peek...
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Hi there Zsuzsa, I'm really loving those twinchies, just my kind of thing. There are more tutorials doing the rounds than I can cope with at the mo so must confess to switching off a bit. I have done a class with Tam before so I know they'll be a lot of fun but also challenging. Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #22
ReplyDeleteLoving the Twinchies and the journal pages. I saw the advert for the Lifebook Taster and then forgot all about it , will have to have a look. That Craft "Mystery" Box came as a massive surprise I never thought that for that price that there would be so much in it. I bought one of their Steampunk boxes which was reasonable value so when I saw the Mystery box I thought I'd try it. Of course I don't really need anymore stuff but there are things in there that I didn't have and it I did get a lot of enjoyment going through the box. Wishing you a happy week and a very creative woyww, Angela x12x
ReplyDeletehi Zsuzsa, I could see many uses for twinchies. I have some journals - but the pages are still blank. I keep saying to myself, when life quietens down, and I have time- but it shows no sign of getting quieter! I love the idea of online lessons and challenges, but I know I'd always miss them! Thanks for stopping by earlier. Nice to catch up with you again too. I ordered my potting shed in April and it was delivered in July. The GIF is quite fast, I'll have to see if I can slow it down. I do like my potting shed - I'll add some pictures to my blog. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #17
ReplyDeleteHi Zsuzsa there is always great artists attached to Life Book but those tasters come at times when I barely have chance to pick up a pencil. Looks like you have embraced those tasters even when you you felt you were struggling, I can work with an artists style but have to make it my own after completion. Always adore Laly's work & twinchies really are very fun to create, amazing how much you can get on a 2" square. Beautiful and inspiring as always my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comments about my ickle garden, it's taken a year on and off to get it to where we want it, now the children have no need for it. Lots of recycling and making of planters etc... saved a small fortune may I add. Now you can send the rain and hail over my way hee hee..
Stay safe Hugs Tracey #7 xx
I think it's great you love your own process = your own style ♥ I feel really good when I can see a lesson is from someone else but looks like my own work. Gorgeous gold on your twinchies. We have had hail here too! Too late for us and too early for you. Happy Autumn xo
ReplyDeleteLove your work and its always good to get to your own style, Love the twinchies

Sorry I'm so late with my visits this week. I went with my hubby yesterday doing deliveries for our daughter and her hubby's printing business to London....a long day but always lovely to spend the time together.
ReplyDeleteI think it does us all good to work out of our comfort zone at times but when yours is so gorgeous normally then why change?
Hugs,

I love inchies so twinchies are just as wonderful. Terrific journal pages too, and your style works so why not stick with it ~ That hail was loud, I'm glad it didn't do too much damage. Blessings ~ Karen#32
ReplyDeleteI love the twinchies and the journal page. I must visit those lessons they sound amazing. Happy belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#14)
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is slightly different from your usual style, Zsuzsa, but I do like it! I love your twinchies. Not something I've come across before. Lovely colours and textures. Your video amused me because I thought the "Hail" was "Hail!" as in greeting!! - to that particular date lol! I hope Oreo wasn't out in that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and for your good wishes re my hospital saga. I'm fed up to the back teeth with the Exeter hospital - time they got their act together! Glad you liked my top this week too. I've bitten the bullet and ordered the other one similar to it, that I saw online, but it won't come till November! As for the flab, I'm afraid you're wrong about that because my stomach is terribly floppy and horrible since I lost all the weight, which is what the operation is all about - I'm getting a tummy tuck to try and stabilise everything. The best way to diet without feeling constantly hungry is to eat large quantities (as much as you like) of calorie-dilute foods - whole plant foods - which are high in fibre and which satisfy you for hours without putting the weight on. They feed your gut microbiome too which is good for weight loss. I'm never tempted to eat between meals these days and it's so liberating, not counting calories and feeling as if you could eat the sofa all the time. Not that you look as if you need to lose weight, but of course I haven't seen any very recent photos! So glad you're enjoying the progress of the tiny carpets. I finished #4 last night and am now working on the black background. Those were only 2 of my bags of threads, containing reds and pinks, and reds and oranges, to choose what I wanted for the random red background I was doing. I have similar bags with the other colour groups too. I've got a deadline on the needle books now because one of the recipients is coming down in 10 days and I want to give it to her then.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #20
I love your spread, its certainly good if you feel comfortable in your own style. The postage stamps on the spread look fantastic, such a clever idea!
ReplyDeleteOh I haven't heard of those before, the two inch squares. They are gorgeous, getting me very inspired indeed. The complete ones at the bottom look great! Have a fab week

Loving those twinchies - something fun to try! I think they'd make great additions to mini journals, don't you? Great post, Zsuzsa!
ReplyDeleteI would spend lots of my time shuffling through those twinchies - delicious texture plus gold!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me - never saw twinchies before - heard of them - now I want to make some...
Peace,
