WOYWW #585: Journal page 'Spirit' and lots of rain

What a difference a week makes - we've had lots of rain since my last post and the temperatures are a lot more comfortable as well. I am definitely a confirmed pluviophile - rain always makes me happy - provided that I can stay indoors - which I can today so yay, I'm happy!

Sometime last weekend I made a journal page. I started by randomly sticking pieces of collage in one of my neglected journals. This is as far as I got when I took the photo for WOYWW.

I was stuck at this stage, then decided to add some imagery from a Stamperia collection (Cosmos) that I'm using for my son's birthday card this year. I still have a whole month to work on it, so I'm way ahead of myself! I'd previously scanned in the imagery and printed them on matte photo paper. I love Stamperia papers, but they're so stingy - they only give you one double-sided sheet of each design - so you always end up wasting one side - and they're not cheap enough to just buy another pack!  That's why I had to resort to using my scanner and printer to get my money's worth out of the pack. So, this is what I ended up with after adding the cut-aparts from the collection. All the other bits were just random pieces lying around (some of them destined for the bin). I came across the "spirit" pebble that I'd made a while ago while looking for my gold ink for the splatters. I thought it was a perfect fit as you could interpret the imagery as spirit animals. The shape in front of the moon is meant to be a boat signifying the journey through life guided by the spirit animals. I didn't plan this page - I just went with the flow.

I thought it looked atmospheric next to the rainswept window! Much as I like rain, I realise we need sunshine too - so here's a sunny shot of one of the marigolds in the tub you can see outside the window. Nature's the best artist - look at that blending of the colours!

Happy #585! Hope you're enjoying the rain as much as I do! xx

  1. Great journal pages. I'm with you on the Stamperia papers. I've got the Steampunk ones and it's still sitting there because I can't decide what to use. I think those double sided papers cause me a lot anxiety Lol! I know it's crazy! Gorgeous flower and yes I'm enjoying the rain as I'm not a lover of so much sun, give me the snow any time! Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x14x

  2. I love your pages xx I was happy to see the rain this week ( didn't have to water the tomatoes) and it cooled everywhere down a bit , not sure that i LOVe it though. I love lots of light and sunshine , maybe not quiet as hot as it was though. Have a fab week. Soojay#22

  3. I was pleased to be released from that horrid humidity as well but my natural inclination is towards blue skies rather than grey - and my persistent cough (of 25 yrs ++) had virtually disappeared but now back with a vengeance since the rain came. So I guess I have mixed feelings about the change in the weather!! Love how your journal page is coming along, whatever papers you buy there are always at least one sheet where the pattern is great both sides!! I have so much paper I don't use because I can't choose but I am trying to be a bit better (have realised that some of it has been there a looooong time waiting for the perfect project). Thanks for your earlier visit, glad you like the tags but wondering where you popped over from? Hmmm. Happy WOYWW, stay well, saty safe, Cindy #20

  4. I too am a cool colour person, always going for the blue/green/
turquoise look so when Tracy chose these colours I had to send for some new paints. I loved working with them but the Vermillion ink has made a mess of my stamps and I like a lean stamp. I have to keep repeating "Get over yourself woman" and stop trying to clean them.
Your journal pages are my colours and I loved looking at what you have been doing - but then I always do. Some lovely images there and I particularly like the wolf and your spirit boat is fabulous.
Yep, nature knows what she is doing when it comes to colour!
    Hugs, Neet 7 xx

  5. Your pages are fabulous - I love the images and they look just right against your background. I do share your frustration with double sided papers and Stamperia papers are particularly gorgeous papers aren't they.
I'm with you on the rain - I love it and am enjoying these cooler days.
Hope you have a great week,

  6. I'm so happy the rain is here too!! And really pleased that the temps have fallen, the heatwave wasn't fun. Your work is always so beautiful, I like the boat in front of the moon. I did a spirit animal workshop once and found I was a Salmon - I wasn't pleased at first but then realised that they are strong, determined creatures with a strong urge to return home. That's me all right!!

  8. I love your atmospheric journal page, Zsuzsa, with your signature colour scheme! I'm not such a pluviophile as you, I have to say... but I'm glad we have so much because it makes this such a green and pleasant land! I asked my hubby if he knew what a pluviophile was and I had to give him a lot of hints before he guessed it - I told him you were Hungarian and knew more English than he did lol!!

Thank you for your visit and for your amusing anecdotes about poor little Oreo! He sounds a bit like Ruby. Ruby has just emerged from behind the fridge in the flat where she decamps every Wednesday afternoon when my cleaning lady comes. It's such a small space and I often wonder how she gets in there! Thank you for your kind words about my latest outfit! I don't know how you manage without a freezer. I use ours constantly as I always tend to cook in bulk - it saves a lot of work, and it also means we don't waste any apples or other fruit that we get given. I adore lentils too - we're having them again tonight in our wraps, green lentils this time. They really are a super-food! I hope you try the lentil flatbreads - they are super easy to make and fluffy and delicious.

    Happy WOYWW,

  13. HI Zsuzsa, sorry I'm late, yesterday took an unexpected turn! Love your journal spread, isn't it wonderful when you go with the flow and it works out SO well? We have sunshine again today, but it's really wind so we're having to stake up some of the tall plants. Have a happy and creative week. Annie C #19

  15. I love the rain too, especially how everything smells in the morning after a night of rain. Rain always puts me in a cozy mood, I want to wrap up in a blanket in my favourite chair and read...The journal page is gorgeous, all my favourite colours! I love how we can find something discarded on our table from days or weeks ago, and find that it's the perfect thing for what we are working on at the moment! Serendipity? I think I have that wolf stamp...have a great week, Lindart #27

  16. Oh my that is so gorgeous! I just bought my first gel printing plate and can't wait to try it. I love the spirit animals and the sail of the boat is so clever. I could use some of your rain. Our heat and dry weather is forcing me to water my garden regularly. I am sure you will here my screams all the way at your home when my water bill arrives! Have a wonderful week.

  18. What an absolutely adorable page, love the colour scheme and imagery and yes I love to see rain drops down the window and how they join up, it reminds me of watching it as a child. Yes it was a freepost return for the jigsaw but they didn't take notice of the actual complaint as their return email said sorry for the missing piece, I told them again about the picture and sent it back! Thanks for the visit BJ#17

  19. What a wonderful page, Zsuzsa - love the combination of colours. You're quite right that it looks fabulous next to the great outdoors - perfect placement! Loving the marigold colouring, too - it's one of my favourite flowers; John plants them in his pots of tomatoes and they shine there until the tomatoes bring some colour to the green. Luscious!

  21. I really love your spirit-animal-spread, gorgeous colours and images... my spirit animal is a badger ;) Thanks for visiting my blog the other day, you mentioned you haven't exercised since the lock down - I haven't either but started last week with a little walk every day, building it up. I really must work on my condition. Have a nice weekend. Marit #8
