I've been rather productive this past week - partly inspired the LifeBook Summit, which is accessible for free until 30th September. This was the state of my desk earlier this week - and it still looks pretty much the same, i.e. very messy. I won't be able to put off tidying much longer.
Here are the results of my activities. Firstly, two journal pages completed ad hoc with whatever materials I could get my hands on without getting up - which is one of the advantages of having a permanently messy desk.
Another project was attempted following the ideas of Cathy Nichols at the Summit. She showed us how to make oracle cards incorporating magazine images. The challenge was to select your supplies and collage materials at random without looking - even the magazine image came from a randomly selected page. I cheated with the second one a little when I added a die-cut shape and a tea bag, but otherwise all the colours and collage papers were chosen blindly. This encouraged me to use some of my supplies that may not have been my first choice otherwise. The good thing about this project is that it is expendable indefinitely - and I envisage dozens of these cards to make a complete deck.
Hope it hasn't been too rainy for those of you in the UK. I got a little wet yesterday going to work, but it was sunny by the time I got back. I'll take a little rain over the relentless heat in the summer any day! Happy #538!
A messy desk is the sign of a creative person and wow haven't you been busy. What fab creations this week too.

I love how your desk is busy and provides inspiration for you. If your journal pages are anything to go by it is a fantastic idea. I just love those pages, really do. I'd be so pleased with those if I had sat and planned them for ages. Fab!
ReplyDeleteAs for the cards, they too are great - I love the second oner, it reminds me of Frida Kahlo - and the idea of doing another 50 to make a complete deck is inspirational.
Have a good week, stay dry.
Hugs, Neet 3 xx
Looks like everyone had a nice birthday and Oreo looked good too, he's very photogenic. Looks like a good way to do the journal pages if they turn out like that, brilliant! It has been rather wet here for the last couple of days and the drive on the A1 yesterday to see my parents was awful, we could hardly see a thing but I do prefer the cooler tempretures. Hope you have a lovely creative week and a very happy woyww, Angela x13x
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit, Zsuzsa - so glad you like my slippers but they are definitely to be worn and won't be in a glass cabinet on display!!! I am having fun doing them but it's a bit tedious because you have to use a curved needle and it can be a bit awkward at times, especially when the pointy bits keep getting in the way! It's an interesting project anyway. I am determined to crack the bleaching problem. My latest effort did dry with more bleaching effect and slightly less running, working on a pad of kitchen paper, so I think that will probably be the way to go. Using stamps with less detail seems to work better too. I may find someone whose brains I can pick at the craft show tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your supportive remarks about my PIP assessment. I agree it's revolting! I think these wretched people should be taken to task but it would mean taking the DWP to task and they are run by the govt. Democracy at work? Ha ha. There's a lot of talk online about staging a repeat of Guy Fawkes' unfinished business on 5th Nov. and I must say it wouldn't take much for me to join in, the way I'm feeling at the moment!! Anyway, I'm feeling less devastated and furious today, and accept that I don't have any choice but to go along with it. The only alternative would be to abandon my claim altogether and I'm not quite ready to do that! Meeting Margaret and Christine was a lovely thing to happen during a week of highs and lows, and the craft show tomorrow should be fun. I shall try not to dwell on the PIP business too much.
