WOYWW #649: Back on the bandwagon with a new scrap journal

I fell off the bandwagon and hardly created anything for the past two weeks, then bang, I came back with a vengeance - like I normally do after taking some time off  - and now I can't stop! This is a still of my desk last night - a bit of a horror show:

Wait, there's worse - how about this wider shot of my entire craft room. I have no choice but to admit it: I'm a slob! There, I said it. I will tidy up - one day.

But messiness aside, I'm back in the game creating again. This is my new scrap journal that I cobbled up in the last two days with a cover I had made a while ago. It was a write-off, but perfect for a scrap journal (originally, it wanted to be medieval journal, which is still on the cards for later - I have a journal kit for it). So here it is with the pages I've completed so far, the last one just this morning.

It's funny how I go through these creative blocks and then it just all flows freely. So strange how it happens - I never make a conscious decision - I just go with the flow. Perhaps that's why I have difficulty creating on demand.

It will be interesting to find out what y'all been up to, hopefully keeping your desks a bit tidier than I managed! I'm unlikely to be around next week - I've got a dentist appointment. Only because I lost a filling - it's my wisdom tooth - they might have to take it out, although it doesn't cause me any trouble at the moment. When I phoned for an appointment, they informed me that I'm no longer on their NHS list as I hadn't visited for over 12 months. Well, yeah, cause there was a bloody lockdown and they weren't even open most of the time! When they reopened in July, I knew they were busy so I didn't want to go unless it was necessary. Now they tell me they're not accepting any new NHS patients, but, hey, I can be seen privately at short notice. The money grabbers, benefiting from the lockdown. They're not interested in the well-being of their patients - they're only interested in fleecing you, but I have no choice. I've tried a few other dentists in the area but there's an 8-10-month waiting list for new patients, even on the private register and you can only go to the NHS  Access Centre if you're in excruciating pain, so should I wait until then? What sort of a senseless, stupid system is that? Ok, rant over. Thanks for listening. I don't like complaining but it just seems so unfair.

See you in a bit! Happy #649! xx

  1. You can't be creative without making a bit of a mess so you are excused. Your creativity is amazing so keep going with the flow. Sorry to hear about your dentist experience....it really annoys me to think of these people taking advantage of the situation.

  2. I can understand your anger at the dentists. What a load of old cobblers. I would really begrudge giving them my money but I guess you have no alternative. I'd let them know how you feel.
Go glad you had an urge to create. Love seeing your journals they are always fabulous and if that is how your room gets - let it, it is worth it to create. Besides which it is not that bad really.

  3. I guess I've gone to a private dentist for years, no point even looking for a NHS one especially as I'm very nervous too. We even travel 35minutes to ours as well. Although I did have to find a different one for my crowns as I can't have the plate thing in my mouth and needed to have them done via a laser thingy instead. Ho Hum. Anyway, your journal cover is so NOT a write-off it's gorgeous plus all the gorgeousness within. Love it all, a feast for my eyes, keep doing what you are doing it's brilliant. BJ#8

  4. That is shocking and very shoddy treatment by your dentist, they should have texted you to let you know first before just kicking you off the NHS list - a poor excuse cos they just want to make more money. It’s the biggest health scandal in the UK at the moment. The waiting lists are similar in Wales too. It makes me so mad!
So crafting is the perfect way to deal with that - you’re not alone in crafting when your gut reaction tells you too, that’s the way I roll. When I force myself to do something, it never turns out right. That journal is gorgeous, love the different pages, it’s very you!

  5. I always thought I was an NHS patient and was amazed at the cost of treatments . . . then I found out she was charging me as a private patient! I changed double quick.
Hope you get your tooth sorted out

  6. Wow I love your pages - they are stunning and incorporate everything I love!! So maddening about your dentist - mine used to be great, they he became ill and sold the practice and now the prices have doubled and I keep being pressurised to consider cosmetic treatments - it makes me so mad, so I am feeling your frustration.
Hope you have a good week and get your tooth sorted out,

  7. I enlarged your desk and WOW I love everything there. And my floor is a bigger mess. We should have a floor post once in awhile !!! We are no doubt all guilty. And Rant, it has to be once in awhile. it's here too so discusting. Even a diocese in our religious area got me riled. Your journals are always so great. Great colors, layers and themes. Have a good week I am going to miss FALL weather, and my outdoor time. Snow Friday?

  8. Hi Zsuzsa, you'll be proud of me as I walked past the craft mags in the supermarket this week and didn't even look at them...can't promise that will last though! I think it's a good idea to walk away from your desk for a while and give Mr Mojo a holiday. That's interesting that you're showing us this scrap journal as I've just got one out that I made ages ago and I'm going to attach all the bits of left over Masterboards in it to start off with so I guess that makes it a scrap journal maybe. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x13x

  9. Everything's a rip-off these days, Zsuzsa. The love of money is the driving force of our modern age, for sure. We have a private insurance scheme for our dentist which works pretty well but I do resent paying out money every month when we aren't going much more than 6-monthly - my hubby needs it more than I do, fortunately, because I'm such a wimp at the dentist!

Your room doesn't look that untidy to me, but then mine is usually far worse! It's really tidy for now (though how long that will last is anyone's guess) so I'm feeling a bit smug!! I love the latest journal - I always love how you use butterflies and postage stamps. Interesting what you said about the Graphics Fairy, too. I've never heard of anyone getting printing done online - that's a new one to me. I would definitely prefer to have my own printer if I can find one that does what I want, but if I wanted anything really special done, or bulk stuff, I might consider it - I'll keep a note of the link you posted, for which many thanks. I was interested also in your experience with foiling on satin paper - that's worth remembering. I'm afraid I completely lost patience with my inkjet printer the last time I used it and was on the verge of chucking it out of the window - the only thing that stopped me was the balcony, and also perhaps the danger that it might have landed on some poor pedestrian's head in the street!! What a way to go...

I hope Oreo isn't up to no good, out all hours like that. He's probably got in with the wrong teenage crowd or joined a gang or something!! At least he comes home when he can feel that you are worried about him, which is good. Kitties are definitely psychic, I'm convinced of it. I had a friend in our Plymouth days - she lived in a really rough area, and her cat Biggles (who looked as if he had flying goggles on!) used to go to sleazy night clubs just around the corner from where they lived. They would often phone up to say he'd been demanding beer again. Our old Sophie (my very first kitty) spent her days in the local hairdresser's, sitting under the drier and coming home all bouffed up and smelling of hair spray. She was quite old then, and I always thought she'd come home with a blue rinse and a perm, like the other ladies she sat beside! They all have their funny little ways, don't they. Life is never boring with kitties.

I'm no good at creating on demand, either. I find it's the surest way to turn off any creative mojo I might have going at the time. I'm still resting but my new stamp arrived today, to go with the die I got recently, so I'm hoping my mojo comes back soon as I want to try it.

Thanks for your other comment too on last week's post - glad you liked the cards.

    Happy WOYWW,

  13. Gorgeous pages and your cover is so beautiful. I would be ranting too! How frustrating. xo

  14. Absolutely ridiculous re the dentist Zsuzsa - I would be putting in a complaint to the central body - it is just an excuse to make you go private. I would also get into the queue for a new NHS dentist if possible somewhere else. Fabulous creativity - you certainly have plenty of room in your craft room to spread things out. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

  15. Sorry to hear about your Dentist. It seems a familiar tale at the moment, it particularly is unfair when they are cancelling appointments themselves. After a long wait I had a tooth filled and a week later it came out, so I am back on the waiting list.
Fabulous journal and creativity on demand is hard. Angela #6

  16. Your desk and room may be a bit messy, but never mind, as your creations are just great! Sorry to hear about your experience with the dentist. Unfortunately, I have heard similar stories in Germany, where some dentists had "used the budget" for "normal" patients at the end of October, so you had to wait until January to have an appointment or pay all yourself. It is so unfair, but of course, what alternative do you have in such a case?

  17. What a wonderful journal, Zsuzsa - I love the playful feeling of the cover, and the contents just make me want to see more. As for your 'messy' studio, I'm finding it a wee bit tidy in comparison to mine. Perhaps we should switch! :D
