I took unauthorised leave of absence from blogging last week but I'm back today for WOYWW #607. I'm still on a sabbatical from my mixed media endeavours, though I did have a bit of inky play on my still relatively tidy desk, but it didn't progress anywhere. I'm sure these bits will come in handy one day though.
I'm still preoccupied with diamond painting. I've finished my first larger piece and started another one. I fell into the habit of working on them on the kitchen table in the evenings with the dishwasher humming in the background - what could be more relaxing?
I've also started a circular puzzle - my first and probably the last one as it is an awkward size and doesn't quite fit on my puzzle board. I'll have to do it in two parts, which will make it even more challenging than it is already. It took me two weeks just to get to this stage - the process being hampered by the fact that I can only work on it during daylight hours as I can't see the nuances of shades in artificial lighting. I almost gave up at one point but then I thought I was literally (and figuratively) putting the world back together, so I had to carry on! Most of the land mass is now done - the oceans will be even more of a challenge!
I was also delayed by Oreo having a snooze on top of my puzzle board.

Morning my lovely!! The only problem with collecting lots of gorgeous inky painty bits is I forget to use them - doh!! That looks a lovely diamond picture - there are some really nice designs out there at the mo. The puzzle looks very challenging - I do love puzzles but can't seem to settle to them at home. I did quite a few when we were in Spain for a month last year (distant memories sob, sob) but I have too many other things I'm not getting on with here. I also cannot do it without good lighting and England in January does not suit me!! Cheeky Oreo - but don't they just find anywhere for a snooze(never in their bed). ReplyDeleteYour inky pieces will be put to very good use I'm sure - I love the colours. That jigsaw looks a shocker - I would definitely have given up by now, but then I make sure I avoid anything that has lots of a similar colour like snow or sky - I 'discovered' jigsaws a couple of years ago having disliked them for many years so I don't want to do anything to put me off them again!

Hi Zsuzsa. So glad you are having so much fun with your diamond painting. Love the idea of the dishwasher humming in the background to bring you to a state of relaxation! Well done on the inky pieces. Yes - they will be used at some point! Your puzzle really doesn't look easy - will you mount it and keep it made up? If Oreo ever gets off the board, that is!! Thanks for your visit. What a beautiful reason to mount your puzzles - so you can look back and remember. Trouble is, if I did that, my house would end up on TV in one of those "clutter" programmes, 'cos I do so many of them. I pass them on to free up some cupboard space...

ReplyDeleteThat’s so typical of cats, they see you’re interested n something so come and helpfully sit on whatever it is! At least he’s on the case and not the jigsaw itself, which is a testing one, the ocean is going to be tricky. I always sort out the pieces by shape if there’s a lot of sky etc to do. Good luck! The diamond art seems to be really popular at the moment, I can see how it’s very relaxing to do.

Hey you! NO apologies for absences or sabbaticals!! We all have lives and....lull's from crafting! Hey......I took 2 YEARS!!! LOL But I think we all need time in between sometimes which helps spur on the next jump of creativity. WOW that diamond painting is fabulous....AND BIG!! LOL I love picture, so beautiful!!! You have A LOT of patience, that is for sure! It seems so intricate and tedious! I love the final effects of those painting however. They really are something! Ok so the puzzle....I love puzzling but that one looks so tricky!! ALLL that water...ugghh and the land mass as well has so much of the same color! It would take me FOREVER!! Since Oreo is enjoying lying on it...he needs to help put it together!! LOL Wouldn't that be something! ReplyDeleteOh it's a pickle when jigsaws don't fit your board, good for you persevering. I gave up on the edge of a square puzzle when I realised it was square and too big for my board. Still not quite sure what diamond painting is? Looks like crystals by colour, do they get stuck permanently and then framed? I keep thinking I should get my two old Jigsaws out again as it's ages since I saw them, one of them is 'Ophelia' by Millais and one of my favourite paintings that is after 'Flaming June'. I just love the pre raphaelites. Loving the colours on your inky job too. We are so lucky to have such interests and great friends to share it with. ReplyDeleteHaving a box full of lovely colourful paint-y papers will pay off one day. I have never used a puzzle board but they do sound handy. I am mostly late as our dishwasher gave up the ghost today and I have been TRYING to get that sorted rather than desk hopping. Then had to watch the Inauguration...just one of those days. I envy you yours, humming away in the background. Ours is humming too, problem is it is doing it when it is OFF. {sigh}

ReplyDeleteYes! Keep building your puzzle, the world needs you! Yes, They do charge me for the double subscription! They did before, I rung them up last time and they said I wouldn't have to pay for another four months but then realised I'd paid for 6 months and then the covid thing happeneed and there were no magazines. Noticed too, they charged me twice in September, also my other mag got stopped, grrrr! Never mind, It'll get sorted! There's worse things going on! Me too! (keep paper stacks to smooth over!) I thought of buying two, one to keep and one to use, but it's hard!! The little shelf thing I think it'll have crafty stuff on in at some point just have to find wall space to hang it on!! ReplyDeletewe had the same prob with a circular puzzle, each piece that made up the edge seemed to make I get bigger! It was a devil to do too, a graduated colour wheel. I’ve gone back to rectangular street scenes for now! The need for daylight is hampering us too, a few pieces each lunchtime is as much as we manage at the mo, the light hasn’t been good for a week now, the rain seems ceaseless. Love the inky play, that orange is stunning! I must say that diamond art picture looks beautiful, I haven’t seen many but that one is very striking. So glad you’re getting so much out of them!

I saw a diamond card kit at Michaels but it was 9.99, I guess with the 40% paying $6 to make one card still sounded steep ~ the reviews on amazon for the card kits weren't promising as they said the English translation for the sentiments didn't read right ~ so I guess I'm not trying this craft anytime soon! I look forward to seeing your picture come together ~ The design looks really pretty. Enjoy your week!

ReplyDeleteOh dear, I am not a good jigsaw person and I could not attempt this for all the tea in China. I just about manage the ones on my iPad in an evening and have not tried a circular one yet.

I was very interested in your account of cars in Hungary and read that bit out to my hubby. He did a lot of work in Romania for many years after the revolution. One of our friends had a brother who got him a car in W. Germany as a gift because the Romanians had the same problem - their car was the Dacia.
ReplyDeleteThe chia oat pudding is delicious. I've adapted the recipe a bit, and make enough for about 5 days now. I made another batch this morning, and also some more of the smoothie bowl mixture. My blender is brilliant!

ReplyDeleteAll those random pieces of art go right into a drawer at my house, and usually get pulled out a few months or years later when they are "perfect" for whatever I am working on!
We do love our waterbed, we've had one since that late 70's when hubby brought one home one day. I loved it from the first time I lay on it. It's my go to spot in the house to get warm! The cats have always adapted quickly to the movement of the bed, and no one has poked a hole in it with their claws. It used to be just a sheet between the bladder and the claw, but now that waterbeds have grown up and gotten fancy there is a nice thick mat on top of the bladder, which is now many small bladders, and so no more worrying about the claws! ReplyDeleteHi Susan, I also started diamond painting end of last year after seeing all the adds I just had to give it ago and indeed it is sooo relaxing, I am on my second larger piece now and ordered 2 more, also got me some accesories like a lightpad which by the way makes a huge difference. I tracked you down on IG so I can follow your progress on the 100 day project, I myself am doing 100 gelliprints (by the way that is how I stumbled on your blog again after a long abscence, I was searching for inspiration on grungy gelliprints and your page popped up)
